Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has signed an agreement with Media Guru Consultant, LLC, Dubai, for the transformation of the Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC) into a world-class broadcasting station.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the Governor by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, during a brief ceremony held at Government House, Uyo.
Governor Eno said the project aligns with his administration’s commitment to upgrade the state’s information and communication infrastructure and deliver on his campaign promise to modernise AKBC.
He explained that the partnership with Media Guru covers consultancy, design, procurement, and installation of advanced broadcast equipment, which will position AKBC to compete favourably with leading broadcast stations within and outside Nigeria.
“I welcome everyone to the signing ceremony of the agreement between Akwa Ibom State Government and Media Guru Consultant, LLC, for the provision of consultancy, design, procurement, and installation of broadcast equipment for AKBC,” the Governor stated.
The Director General of AKBC, Mrs Imaobong Udoh, expressed appreciation to Governor Eno for his vision and commitment to revamping the state-owned media outfit. She described the agreement as a major milestone in the station’s journey towards excellence and pledged that the management and staff would match the government’s efforts with renewed dedication to quality broadcasting.
“With this upgrade, Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians at large will experience the best in broadcasting,” Mrs Udoh assured.
The event was attended by the Head of Civil Service, Elder Effiong Essien; the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Barr Uko Udom, SAN; the Commissioner for Information, Hon Aniekan Umanah; and other senior government officials, alongside AKBC management and staff.
