…Commences Registration and Revalidation of Support Groups within APC
Uyo, Akwa Ibom State – The State Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom, Dr Clement Awakessien, convened a major meeting of Support Group Leaders on Monday, 29 July 2025. The gathering, held in Uyo, brought together leaders of existing and aspiring support groups aligned with the party.
The highlight of the meeting was the unanimous endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON; and Akwa Ibom Governor Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, for their respective re-election bids. The group leaders further pledged their loyalty to the State Working Committee, ably led by Chairman Obong Stephen Ntukekpo, reaffirming unity and purpose within the state APC hierarchy.
In his remarks, Dr Awakessien urged all support group leaders to work diligently towards the success of Governor Umo Eno’s administration, as well as for the overall triumph of APC candidates in forthcoming elections.

He took the opportunity to brief leaders on new developments surrounding APC membership. Dr Awakessien stressed the importance of adhering to party rules, noting that APC is a structured political organisation governed strictly by its constitution. He directed all support group leaders and their members to ensure proper registration as APC members within their respective wards.

The State Women Leader, Obongawa Ubonodo Uko, called on party members to remain resilient and allayed concerns that new defectors might marginalise existing loyalists. She advocated for inclusiveness, urging that new members should feel welcome, but not at the expense of those who have long sustained the party’s machinery.
A major announcement came as Dr Awakessien unveiled a newly developed online portal for the registration and revalidation of APC support groups in Akwa Ibom. He stressed that, going forward, all applications for support group registration within the party would be conducted electronically.

Mr Destiny Young, a prominent IT and cybersecurity expert consulted by the Youth Leader’s Office to develop the platform, provided a detailed overview of the registration process. Prospective group registrants are required to first submit an Expression of Interest letter in person, stating the group president’s full name, group name, and mobile (WhatsApp) number. Upon receipt, the Office issues a unique Registration Code (RegCode) to each group—the principal identifier within the new digital database.
Subsequently, group officials utilise a unique portal link sent by the State Youth Leader’s Office to complete online registration. Applicants must be prepared to upload:
- Email address (preferably Gmail)
- Scanned copy of the application letter
- List detailing the group’s leadership structure
- Scanned copies of supporting documents (e.g., Corporate Affairs Commission registration, if available)

Mr Young emphasised that this e-registration initiative aims to streamline processes and enhance the efficiency of database management for the APC in Akwa Ibom.
The move underscores APC’s commitment to reforming party processes, fostering inclusivity, and leveraging technology for better organisational efficiency ahead of future electoral contests.
