…2026 would be marked by heightened governance activity, with plans to execute more than sixty priority projects alongside ongoing road construction across the state, Gov said.

Uyo ~ Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has launched the 2026 Ministerial Briefing exercise as part of a broader push to tighten accountability, sharpen coordination and refocus governance on measurable outcomes across government institutions.
The exercise, scheduled to run for two weeks, was formally declared open during an enlarged meeting of the State Executive Council at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Uyo. Governor Eno described the briefings as a critical governance tool aimed at reviewing performance and setting clear priorities for Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

According to the Governor, the sessions are designed to allow Commissioners, Heads of Agencies and Managing Directors to present detailed accounts of their stewardship over the past two and a half years, while aligning their programmes and expenditures with the ARISE Agenda of the administration.
He stressed that the briefings must go beyond routine reports, insisting on structured and data driven presentations that clearly demonstrate impact on public service delivery and the welfare of Akwa Ibom residents. The Governor said the process would strengthen inter agency collaboration and reinforce a results oriented culture within government.

The first round of presentations is scheduled for Monday, January 12, 2026, with the Commissioners for Works, Humanitarian Affairs and Education, who also chairs the Ibom Tourism Board, expected to make submissions. Governor Eno expressed confidence that the exercise would promote constructive engagement and clearer policy direction.
In a related directive, the Governor called on members of the Executive Council to intensify mobilisation efforts in their political constituencies to improve voter registration, noting that current participation levels remain below expectations.
He also revealed that 2026 would be marked by heightened governance activity, with plans to execute more than sixty priority projects alongside ongoing road construction across the state.
To sustain public engagement, the Governor announced that from February, three Commissioners would be scheduled monthly for formal briefings coordinated by the Commissioner for Information, while weekly radio engagements featuring Commissioners would continue under existing programmes.
Addressing infrastructure concerns, Governor Eno instructed contractors handling state projects to urgently address potholes, particularly within Uyo metropolis, as the dry season begins. He confirmed that funds have already been released to support immediate remedial works.
The Governor concluded with a firm charge to Commissioners to demonstrate greater initiative and urgency, warning that 2026 would be judged strictly on delivery, efficiency and tangible results for the people of Akwa Ibom State.
