The Commissioner for Finance and Chairman of the Inter Ministerial Committee on the Implementation of the Treasury Single Account for Internally Generated Revenue, Mr Emem Bob, has described the reform as a critical step towards strengthening fiscal discipline and enhancing transparency in Akwa Ibom State.

Mr Bob made the assertion after presiding over the inaugural meeting of the committee, which was inaugurated by the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno PhD. He expressed gratitude to the Governor for the confidence reposed in the committee members and the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state.
The meeting, which held on Tuesday 6 January 2026 at the Revenue House of the Akwa Ibom State Internal Revenue Service in Uyo, focused on reviewing the roadmap for the full implementation of the Treasury Single Account and the seamless deployment of AkwaRemit across all Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
According to the Chairman, deliberations centred on effective coordination, accountability and the establishment of robust systems aimed at strengthening revenue management, blocking leakages and promoting greater transparency in public finance.
He noted that members of the committee were united in their resolve to implement the reform diligently and in alignment with the ARISE Agenda, which serves as the policy blueprint of the current administration.
Mr Bob expressed confidence that, with a shared sense of purpose and strict adherence to due process, the Treasury Single Account initiative would significantly enhance fiscal discipline and ultimately translate into improved service delivery for the people of Akwa Ibom State.
