Akwa Ibom is buzzing with renewed political fervor as party faithful gather across the state, setting the stage for what promises to be a defining moment in the upcoming 2027 elections. The All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, is leveraging community engagement and new member registration efforts, signaling optimism for President Bola Tinubu’s prospects in the oil-rich state.
It was a vibrant scene at Ito Ward 3 in Ika Local Government Area as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo, joined hundreds of enthusiastic APC members for the membership revalidation exercise. Ekpo, a prominent son of the soil, spoke confidently about Akwa Ibom’s political transformation, predicting that President Tinubu would secure even more votes in 2027 than in the previous general election. According to the Minister, the unprecedented turnout during the APC registration and revalidation across wards reflects deep-seated grassroots support for the party.
Ekpo credited this rising momentum to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he described as a bold vision for Nigeria’s rebirth. Under Tinubu’s leadership, he noted, the country is witnessing positive reforms including stabilization of the Naira, rollout of NELFUND students’ loans, a push for clean energy, and large-scale infrastructure developments such as the 700km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway—which will traverse Akwa Ibom, bringing new opportunities and connectivity.
The revalidation exercise itself was championed by Governor Umo Bassey Eno, who called for a comprehensive update to the party register, ensuring that new voices are welcomed and existing members’ information is refreshed. APC state chairman Obong Stephen Ntukekpo and other party leaders joined Ekpo, underlining the party’s commitment to inclusive politics.

In a separate gathering in Utu Etim Ekpo, community leaders reiterated their support for the Tinubu administration. Obonganwan Obonodo Uko, the APC State Woman Leader, hailed Minister Ekpo’s accessibility and grassroots engagement. She further expressed the community’s appreciation for President Tinubu’s pledge to revive the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) in Ikot Abasi, a move expected to rekindle employment and economic activity in Akwa Ibom.
Uko assured party leaders of continuous mobilization among women in Akwa Ibom, affirming that the APC’s foundation rests on strong local engagement. “We will keep working relentlessly to guarantee our party’s victory come 2027,” she pledged.
As political activities intensify, Akwa Ibom’s streets echo with anticipation and hope. From busy registration centers to house-to-house mobilization drives, the message is clear: the APC is counting on Akwa Ibom’s expanding base to deliver a massive vote for progress, unity, and renewed hope.
