Akwa Ibom Government Dismisses Chief Ulasi’s Claims on Governor Umo Eno’s Political Alignment

Uyo, Nigeria – 17 August 2025

The Akwa Ibom State Government has firmly denied claims attributed to Chief Dan Ulasi suggesting that Governor Umo Eno regrets joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Umanah, the government described Chief Ulasi’s remarks as “false, mischievous, and unfounded,” stressing that the Governor had never met or spoken with the political figure.

According to the statement, Governor Eno remains “very comfortable and deeply committed” to the APC, working in close alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as with Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other party leaders in Akwa Ibom State. The government pointed to ongoing initiatives under the Governor’s ARISE Agenda, citing visible progress in infrastructure renewal, empowerment programmes, and social investment projects across the state.

Mr Umanah further asserted that Chief Ulasi’s comments represented “a desperate attempt at distortion,” urging him to pursue legitimate political engagement rather than invoking Governor Eno’s name for “political manoeuvres.”

The statement reaffirmed that the people of Akwa Ibom had “gladly followed the Governor’s leadership into the APC,” acknowledging what it described as his “sterling performance” since assuming office.

Concluding the rebuttal, the Commissioner emphasised that Governor Eno remains “firmly at home in the APC,” reiterating his commitment to peace, prosperity, and sustainable development in Akwa Ibom State, while maintaining close collaboration with the Federal Government.
