…Says Pastor Umo Eno is a Promise Keeper Who Will Not Disappoint the People of Akwa Ibom

The Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium and Oku Ibom Ibibio, His Eminence, Etenyin (Dr) Solomon Daniel Etuk, has commended Governor Umo Eno for his visionary and people-focused leadership in Akwa Ibom State. The royal father described the Governor as a promise keeper who has brought a new spirit of accountability and inclusiveness into governance through his Arise Agenda.

Etenyin Etuk made the commendation when members of the Amalgamated Newspaper Publishers Association (ANPA), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, paid him a courtesy visit to inform him of their forthcoming ANPA Week celebration scheduled for Thursday, 13 November 2025, at Ceedapec Hotels and Suites, Uyo.

The monarch, who also serves as the Grand Patron of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio and a member of the National Traditional Rulers Council of Nigeria, said the Governor has redefined governance by empowering young people and encouraging enterprise among citizens. He noted that Governor Eno’s administration has made remarkable progress in youth development, infrastructure, and rural renewal, which are central pillars of the Arise Agenda.

Etenyin Etuk praised the media for its role in public enlightenment and in projecting the Governor’s achievements. He said that through balanced reporting and constructive engagement, the media has helped to strengthen public confidence in the government.

“The media plays an important role in building society. I am glad that you have continued to highlight the achievements of Governor Umo Eno. He has proven to be a man of integrity who keeps his promises and works hard for the progress of our state,” the royal father stated.

The Chairman of the ANPA Week Central Planning Committee and former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Elder Patrick Albert, thanked the monarch for his consistent support for the media community. He announced that during the forthcoming celebration, ANPA would confer on the monarch the award of *Pillar of the Traditional Institution* in recognition of his outstanding contributions to peace, culture, and leadership.

“We came to seek your royal blessings for our event and to officially inform you that you will be honoured with the award of *Pillar of the Traditional Institution* for your exemplary leadership and service to the people,” Elder Albert said.

In his remarks, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Media and Chairman of the ANPA Board of Trustees, Comrade Ernest Akpan, described the Oku Ibom Ibibio as a true patriot whose wisdom and humility have continued to inspire unity across the state. He thanked the monarch for his steadfast commitment to promoting traditional values and supporting government programmes.

Responding, Etenyin Etuk expressed gratitude to ANPA for the honour and assured the association of his continued support. He urged journalists and media practitioners to remain partners in progress by helping to protect and promote the ideals of the Arise Agenda.

“My position demands carefulness and prayer as I intercede for those who err and seek God’s guidance in all matters. Let us all work together to champion the Arise Agenda, which promotes creativity and self-reliance. When our crude oil reserves decline, it is our palm oil, our skills, and our hard work that will sustain us. We must therefore safeguard the developmental projects of our government,” he advised.

In his vote of thanks, Comrade Ephraim Ikpe appreciated the Oku Ibom Ibibio for his hospitality and fatherly disposition. He described the monarch as a symbol of peace and humility whose leadership continues to inspire both traditional institutions and government officials across the nation.

The event concluded with goodwill messages and expressions of admiration for the monarch’s leadership and his unwavering support for the state government’s development agenda.
