A major political shakeup has just hit Akwa Ibom State. Honourable Ekerette Ekpenyong, former chairman of Uyo Local Government and currently the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Urban Development, has led all members of Ward 4 in Uyo Local Government Area—formerly with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as of yesterday.
Described by many as a “political earthquake,” hundreds of committed PDP loyalists have taken the bold step of joining the APC. In an emotionally charged ceremony, Honourable Gabriel Edem Udo, the energetic Uyo APC Chapter Chairman, welcomed the new members, describing their move as a true homecoming for those returning to their political roots.
