COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC), WARD CHAIRMEN FORUM, AKWA IBOM STATE MEETING, HELD ON MONDAY, 14TH JULY, 2025, AT WATBRIDGE HOTELS, UYO

In a bid to enhance synergy among Wards in the State, The Forum of Ward Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom State, organized a meeting of 329 Ward Chairmen at Watbridge Hotels on July 14, 2025, to re-strategize for future engagements. The meeting’s objective was centered on assessing the APC’s situation in Akwa Ibom State and rejuvenating the party’s principles by fostering greater internal unity to incorporate new converts. The Forum further aimed to reaffirm steadfast loyalty to the Party leadership across all strata. Upon meticulous deliberations, the 329 Chairmen unanimously adopted the following resolutions:

1. Loyalty and Support to the President

The Forum reaffirmed its unshakeable loyalty and support to the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

  • The Forum expressed gratitude for the President’s exemplary performance, especially on numerous economic reforms through the Renewed Hope Agenda, including the new Tax reform law.
  • The Forum extended its appreciation for maintaining harmony within APC and democracy.
  • The Forum pledged unwavering support for the President’s re-election in 2027.

2. Appreciation to Senate President

The Forum conveys deep appreciation to His Excellency, Sen. (Dr.) Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, President of the 10th Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria for his contributions to APC’s rapid expansion in Akwa Ibom and the South-South region.

  • Commended his efforts in connecting the State to the centre.
  • Acknowledged his role during the Ward Congresses.
  • Pledged full support for his re-election in 2027.

3. Congratulations to Governor of Akwa Ibom

The Forum formally congratulated His Excellency, Pst. Umo Bassey Eno, Ph.D, the executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, on joining APC on 21st July 2025.

  • Lauded the governor for a successful engagement with the Party Structure.
  • Commended the governor’s Arise Agenda’s inclusive leadership.
  • Pledged to collaborate with stakeholders to realize his vision for re-election in 2027.

4. Commendation for State APC Chairman

The Forum commended the strategic leadership of Obong Stephen Leo Ntukekpo, State Chairman of the APC, Akwa Ibom State, for enabling seamless integration of new party members across wards despite challenges.

  • Passed a vote of confidence in his leadership.
  • Pledged to collaborate against any sabotage to party growth.

5. Vote of Confidence on Ward Chairmen Forum Leadership

The Forum unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Forum, led by Comrade Edidiong Charles Demas for uniting 329 Ward Chairmen under one umbrella.

  • Reaffirmed commitment to upholding the law, maintaining focus, and promoting unity within the APC.
  • Pledged further collaboration at grassroots level to attract more supporters.

6. Call for Reconciliation and Forgiveness

The Forum counseled all party members with grievances to lay them aside, embracing the spirit of reconciliation and integration, as proclaimed by Governor Umo Bassey Eno, with the aim of fostering peace within APC Akwa Ibom.
