The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has expressed strong support for the leadership of Obong Stephen Leo Ntukekpo, describing his stewardship as a driving force behind the party’s renewed unity and progress. This commendation came during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Government House Banquet Hall in Uyo.

Party stakeholders lauded Obong Ntukekpo for his calm disposition, strategic foresight, and unwavering commitment to party cohesion. They highlighted his role in steadily transforming internal dynamics and inspiring confidence among members at all levels of the party structure.

A resounding endorsement was also given to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with attendees applauding his economic policies and decisive national leadership. The stakeholders further reaffirmed their support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, passing a unanimous resolution backing him to continue in the role beyond 2027 due to his enduring contributions to both Akwa Ibom and the South-South geopolitical zone.

In a notable show of intra-party alignment, Governor Umo Eno was declared the APC’s consensus governorship candidate for the upcoming election cycle, reflecting a strategic move aimed at strengthening the party’s position across the state.

The gathering also paused to pay tribute to former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed on recently. A minute of silence was observed in his honour, with heartfelt condolences extended to President Tinubu, the Buhari family, and the Nigerian people.

A communiqué released at the end of deliberations emphasized the party’s commitment to discipline, grassroots mobilization, and internal unity. It also praised the contributions of elected officials, political appointees, and local supporters whose dedication continues to anchor the party’s future ambitions.

The Akwa Ibom APC stakeholders’ meeting underscored a growing momentum within the party, signaling a clear focus on consolidation, collaboration, and readiness for upcoming political contests.
